Mudslide, new YA novel by Ronnie Dauber

Mudslide
“Get over there and into that rock inlet. Move it now! Go on, move!”
The path was muddy and hard to walk on without slipping, but we all began trudging through it towards the little cave which was about twenty yards down the path.
And that’s when it started.
I’ll never forget that sound as long as I live. There was a muffled suction noise that echoed with a profound gurgling mingled with running water. It grew louder and louder with each passing second.
Suddenly, Beth pierced the sound waves with a terrifying shrill that made the hairs on my neck stand up. I looked up and I saw it. We were in the direct path of a massive mudslide that was about to burst forward.
